My name is Alexey and I started stuttering around the age of four. Then my parents turned to a speech therapist, and I studied with her until elementary school. These sessions gave a good result - by school the stuttering had practically disappeared. However, around the fifth grade it suddenly returned.
Why — I still don’t know. Perhaps stress, a change in social circle, or simply the peculiarities of speech development played a role. From that moment on, stuttering began to accompany me in many situations. During my studies at the university, I decided to take it seriously. I again turned to the same speech therapist with whom I studied as a child.
Although the practical results were limited, she gave me very valuable theoretical knowledge - especially about how to work with my speech as an adult. It was she who recommended this program to me. Thanks to her advice and my own observations, I realized that I can read aloud from a sheet of paper without stuttering, which means that the problem lies in the emotional and communicative aspects of speech.
Over the past few years, I have noticed some interesting features of my stuttering. For example, if I play a certain role – as if I “get out of myself” and speak on behalf of another character – the stuttering can practically disappear. The same thing happens if I talk to a friend on the phone or drink alcohol: speech becomes free and natural.
But in stressful everyday situations (talking to a cashier, an unexpected question from a stranger) or when trying to urgently convey information in a game, sharp stutters and even blocks begin. I recently started working with the DAF system, and already on the 3rd or 4th day I felt a noticeable effect - my speech became smoother, and I felt a sense of control.
But after a while the effect began to weaken. And I gave up for a while. Now I am practicing DAF again, trying to combine it with working on speech in normal conditions, gradually developing resistance to stress and “sudden” speech, this is when, for example, a stranger asks you something and you need to answer sharply. I think this is the fear of any person with a stutter)
I am trying very hard to overcome this condition on my own and strive for systematic, conscious work on speech. Your program seemed to me one of the most useful tools, and I hope that it will help me continue on the path to free and natural communication. I would be grateful for the opportunity to receive a license key and use the program as part of personal therapy.
