Hello, I want to share my problem and how I manage to solve it.
I started stuttering at the age of three as a result of a severe fright. Now I am 28 years old, but as you probably already understood from the title, I worked as a school teacher for 5 years. I would continue working, but now I am undergoing treatment, so I decided to "sort out" the stuttering at the same time.
I will not describe all the "delights" of this defect. Over 25 years I have experienced everything possible. And slumps, when you can more or less talk. And surges, when you can't pronounce some syllables even when communicating with loved ones. When I was studying at school, of course, many laughed at me, and I increasingly found solace in books, which determined my success in my studies. I would never have thought that I would become a teacher, but I decided to prove to myself that I could overcome myself. While studying at the pedagogical university, I involuntarily caught puzzled looks at myself like "what is he doing here?"
The main thing I noticed and what helped me work as a teacher is a slightly raised tone of voice, which somewhat dulls the defect. When explaining the educational material, you involuntarily have to raise your voice a little so that all the students can hear. Many students considered me a strict teacher for this. But the reason is completely different. I simply tried in every way to avoid calm “tête-à-tête” communication, during which another outburst occurs. The mathematical profile of the subjects I taught also helped.
However, now I feel that I can't go on like this, so I want to use other speech correction methods. I want to try, I hope this program will help me, I don't want to say goodbye to my favorite profession because of stuttering.
By the way, I noticed that stuttering depends not only on the time of year, but also on the change of the phases of the moon. A real dependence.
I noticed that if I get really excited, I can just chatter non-stop. And the words appear on their own, fortunately my vocabulary was replenished back in school. But as soon as I pause, barriers in pronunciation immediately begin.
Even in my youth, various healers tried to cure me - without result, they say that “singing” pronunciation helps, but not everyone can do that.
My time-tested advice to you is to speak louder, this increases confidence, and with it, as you probably noticed, the defect becomes duller. Speak loudly out loud, at a calm pace, oddly enough, the defect becomes worse. And the amplitude of stuttering does not always depend on excitement. Speak on an exhale.
I wish you all a speedy recovery and freedom from speech constraints. After all, there is nothing better than a free and uninhibited TALK.
All the best.
Best regards, Zhanat
